Road Logs from Montana to Texas
Summarized and prepared by Dr. Delena Norris-Tull, Professor Emerita of Science Education, University of Montana Western.
These notes were taken while driving between Montana and Texas. I have included these road logs because I hope they might be useful to individuals examining changes along roadsides in Western States. My observations were made while driving 60-70 miles per hour, during my annual drives between Montana and Texas, with the assistance of my driving companions. I do not know how accurate are my plant identifications at that rate of speed. But these observations did provide me with further questions, such as:

- Has the Chihuahuan Desert flora expanded its range to the north?
- Are the native plants that are abundant in some areas native to those areas, or has disturbance caused them to expand their ranges?
- Are the many grasses observed in the roadsides native or invasive grasses?
